Stephen McCranie (Space Boy) Interview!

Stephen McCranie Interview | Saturday, September 16 | 5:00 PM MDT | DATA Charter School | 1011 Lamberton Pl NE | Albuquerque, NM | 87107

7000 BC is very pleased to announce an interview with New Mexico's own award winning cartoonist Stephen McCranie! From his days with Mal and Chad at UNM's Daily Lobo, Stephen has rocketed to become creator of Space Boy. He also found time to pen Brick by Brick, a collection of comic essays on mastering sustainable creativity and the pursuit of a creative practice that lasts a lifetime.

Stephen has certainly found the key to that creative practice for himself. Having been picked up by Philomel Books where he produced three Mal and Chad graphic novels, Stephen moved on to create Space Boy for Webtoons' Challenge League Contest. He took the top prize, winning $30,000 and a contract with Webtoons that continues to sustain him. That's no small feat. Space Boy ranks among the top sci-fi webcomics on Webtoons, the largest webcomic platform in the world with over 85 million subscribers.  Print versions of Space Boy are also available in single volume and omnibus editions from Dark Horse Comics.

The event is graciously being hosted by the Digital Arts and Technology Academy (DATA) Charter School. For those attending in-person, Stephen and members of 7000 BC will stick around for drinks, snacks, and any questions or comics of your own that you'd like to share. 7000 BC will return to DATA to provide guest instruction at DATA's comic class in late September.
